Welcome to H8M8, the social networking platform that flips the script on traditional connection-building by bringing people together through what they dislike, not just what they like. Before using our app, please read these Terms of Use carefully.

By accessing or using H8M8, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional terms disclosed to you. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Purpose and Philosophy

The purpose of H8M8 is to help users reclaim emotional balance, understand personal values, and foster authentic human connections — not to match people for romantic or dating purposes.

Unlike dating apps, H8M8 focuses on:

1. Self-exploration – understanding one’s choices, emotions, and boundaries

2. Eligibility

To use H8M8, you must:

1. Be at least 16 years old.
2. Be legally eligible to enter into this agreement.
3. Not be prohibited from using digital social networking platforms under any applicable laws.

3. Third Party Integration: SMS Verification via Twilio

As part of the account registration process, we use SMS messages to verify your phone number. These messages are sent through our third-party provider, Twilio.

By registering for an account with your phone number, you consent to receiving SMS messages solely for authentication and security purposes (e.g., verification codes). Standard messaging rates may apply. Your phone number will only be used for this purpose and will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

1. Use H8M8 only for lawful, respectful, and genuine interactions.
2. Accurately represent yourself in your profile and content.
3. Respect others’ stated dislikes, boundaries, and values.
4. Avoid content that is abusive, threatening, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful.
5. Report any behavior that violates our community guidelines.

You understand that this app is a “values-first” social platform: connection begins by exploring dislikes to build trust—not by pretending to agree.

5. Account and Content

You are responsible for:

1. Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
2. All activity that occurs under your account.
3. Ensuring any video, text, or other content you upload is appropriate, non-infringing, and reflective of your authentic self.

We reserve the right to remove any content or suspend accounts that:

1. Disregard the H8M8 core philosophy (e.g., mocking users’ dislikes).
2. Engage in harassment, manipulation, or deception.
3. Promote hate, misinformation, or illegal activity.

7. In-App Subscriptions

We offer the following auto-renewable subscription options:

1. Monthly Plan: $9.99 per month. Automatically renews each month unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
2. 6-Month Plan: $47.94 total (equivalent to $7.99 per month). Automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal.

Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off in your account settings. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings.

8. Connections & Interactions

H8M8’s unique connection system prioritizes mutual dislikes (H8s) and boundaries, not superficial interests.

You acknowledge:

1. Suggested connections are based on shared preferences and expressed values.
2. H8M8 does not guarantee compatibility, outcomes, or safety.
3. It’s your responsibility to engage thoughtfully and respectfully with other users.

H8M8 encourages conversations and collaborations built on authenticity, empathy, and shared emotional awareness—not romantic or dating purposes.

9. Safety and Privacy

Your safety and privacy are core to our mission.

We provide:

1. Privacy controls to manage your data and visibility.
2. Tools for reporting disrespectful or inappropriate behavior.

You agree not to:

1. Share others’ information without consent.
2. Record or distribute interactions without permission.
3. Misuse features to shame, harass, or publicly embarrass users.

10. Intellectual Property

H8M8 and all associated content, logos, technology, and design elements are owned by H8M8 or its licensors. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute our materials without permission.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access for any violation of these Terms, including misuse of the platform or conduct inconsistent with the values of honesty, respect, and safety.

12. Disclaimers

H8M8 is provided “as is.” We make no guarantees:

1. That you will form any specific type of connection.
2. That all users are truthful or respectful.
3. That the app will always be available or error-free.

Use of the platform is at your own discretion and risk.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, H8M8 will not be liable for:

1. Any direct, indirect, or incidental damages resulting from your use of the platform.
2. User content or behavior on the platform.
3. Unmet expectations in any connection, friendship, or interaction.

14. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes indicates your acceptance. Major changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
